Synopsis
Carlos Rodriguez has everything. He has a solid career as a clinical therapist; he has a successful doctor wife, three beautiful daughters, and a modest home in an upscale neighborhood. But when he takes an earlier flight to surprise his wife on their anniversary, he finds her screaming in ecstasy in their bedroom as another man satisfies her.
Fortunately for him, his cool, collected cousin Colleen who drove him home was there to keep him from killing them both. She also pulled together a plan to make sure that his wife and her rich parents didn’t kick him out and take away his kids. But for the plan to work, Carlos will have to be patient and develop a “moral fluidity” that Colleen has long acquired as an escort.
“Overall, every story focuses on the extent of our ability to adapt as human beings, including the ethical message of compassion, determination and tolerance. Erickson’s knowledge in the cognitive field clearly shows and makes each story much more substantial.” – 5 stars, Lit Amri, Readers’ Favorite Reviews

Reader’s Favorite Reviews

“This tale of courage, conviction and adventure will most likely thrill any reader who has the good fortune to come across it. I'm hoping for more flash fiction from Mr. Erickson. To See Behind Walls is most highly recommended.” – 5 stars, Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite Reviews

“ For those with a vivid imagination, the sky’s the limit.  Altogether, an inspiring flight of fancy.” - 5 stars, Marta Tandori, Readers' Favorite Reviews

“It is a metaphor of postmodern manhood and fatherhood. It speaks to the adventurous souls of men who are trapped inside very ordinary, boring lives. Indeed, men were not designed to be locked up inside offices and cubicles. The spirit of man craves danger, exploration, discovery, and adventure.” - 5 stars,  Geoff Baggett, Readers' Favorite Reviews

To See Behind Walls

On March 18, 1939 a short story was featured in The New Yorker called the “Secret Life of Walter Mitty” by James Thurber. It featured a husband’s vivid imagination taking flight to escape the day to day demands of his wife and the mundane traps of American middle class. Fanciful, fun and entertaining, it is a story everyone can relate too.

This short story is about Benjamin Wood. He is a suburban father of two, loving husband and dog owner in Middle America who has a lot of things to do around the house on a cold, winter Saturday morning. You may not know anyone like him but at the very least he will be familiar to you.
